How to Prepare your Outdoor Space for Fall
The weather might be cooling down, but that doesn’t mean you need to give up on your outdoor space just yet! Fall is a great time to gather outdoors with friends and family to enjoy the crisp air and wonderful colors that come with the fall season.
Here are a few ideas to prepare your space for fall:
Light up the night
As the sun starts to set earlier each night; you may find that you need additional lighting while spending evenings outside, and string lights are an easy, affordable and fun way to do that. String them from the exterior of the home, connecting them with a tree or a pole. You can also loop them around your fence, drape them along the tree branches, or hang them along the ceiling of your porch or pergola.
Add festive pillow and throw blankets
Who doesn’t love to cozy up with a blanket and some hot chocolate or cider on a brisk fall day? Keep a few throw blankets in a storage box or basket nearby to add some fun fall flare and keep you warm when needed. Don’t forget to swap out your summer pillows for some bold fall prints.
Pumpkins and gourds galore
Pumpkins are a quick and cheap way to add some fall festiveness to your outdoor space. Be sure to add in a few gourds and fall flowers while you’re at it. Better yet, turn your pumpkin into a planter and fill it with assorted seasonal flowers and plants. Chrysanthemum, pansies, and goldenrods are a few fall classics.
Gather ‘round the fire
If you don’t have one already, adding a fire pit to your yard is a great way to create an intimate outdoor entertaining space that you can enjoy day or night. Surround your firepit with a few Adirondack chairs and enjoy a glass of wine with friends by the fire or make s’mores with the kids!
